When we talk about cold deformation, we refer to a metalworking process that exploits a material's ability to undergo plastic changes without the use of external heat sources. At Minifaber, we follow a series of steps to achieve optimal results with this fabrication technique.
First, it is essential to choose a material that can be permanently deformed without breaking. The material is chosen by the customer, who often chooses to rely on Minifaber's experience and knowledge. During the process, the sheet metal is deformed plastically, exploiting its metallurgical quality of plastic reserve. This quality is mainly due to its special chemical composition.
Deformation can take place in multiple steps with intermediate shapes to prevent the material from breaking.
Cold deformation is a particularly popular technology because it allows sheet metal to be shaped in a short time without chip removal, while keeping the sheet metal thickness and weight constant. In addition, this fabrication technique can produce components with tight tolerances and excellent surface finishes.
