The metal drawing process in Minifaber
On this page we will explore the following topics:
- How the sheet metal drawing process is done and
- the metals that can be worked with deep drawing
Among the metalworking techniques, we also do sheet metal drawing: with precise, reliable procedures, we deform sheet metal to transform it into three-dimensional components of different shapes (cylindrical, cupped or other). The drawing we perform is always a cold deformation process, which allows us to make metal components such as cylinders and hemispherical caps, as well as finished products or other types of container.
How sheet metal drawing is done
The metal deep drawing process begins with a feasibility analysis on a drawn part. This is done with specific software that simulates the deep drawing process using finite elements. We then move on to design and die making specifically for the shape to be fabricated.
In the drawing process, the sheet metal is placed on a blank holder, clamped by the die and slid between die and punch. Hydraulic presses are used. These control the main force of the press and the independent force of the blank holder. In this way, we obtain the required shape without defects such as wrinkling or dangerous thinning of the material.
In Minifaber, the metal drawing process is also done by means of dies made in-house. This allows us to obtain drawn parts with excellent precision and quality, but also to implement any special request made by the customer, which can count on a customized die design and making service. When fine-tuning the die, it is always necessary to have personnel with the deep experience that managing this process requires.
Metals that can be worked with deep drawing
Drawing is referred to as “deep” when the parts to be drawn are very deep. Deep drawing produces very strong and reliable results. In fact, the end product has no welds since it is formed from a single metal sheet. Precisely for this reason, deep drawing lends itself perfectly to making containers with excellent strength and shock resistance.
Deep drawing provides results free of wrinkling, breaking or necking on various types of metals. However, not all materials are suitable for deep drawing: those used must have a large plastic reserve. Minifaber has great expertise in researching, selecting and checking these materials, on which the success of the operation depends.
At Minifaber, we perform:
- Stainless steel drawing
- Aluminum drawing
- Drawing of ferrous materials (including coated)
- Copper drawing
- Brass drawing
- Special allow drawing.

Case History 1
It is important to take care of the patient, to be followed by the patient, but it will happen at such a time that there is a lot of work and pain. For to come to the smallest detail, no one should practice any kind of work unless he derives some benefit from it.
