Cold metal stamping

We perform cold metal stamping to make semi-finished or finished products based on your specific requirements.

The metal stamping process in Minifaber

We have been involved in cold metal stamping and sheet metal fabrication for more than 65 years, always striving with the utmost professionalism to meet each customer's specific requirements.
On this page, we will discuss:

  • How the stamping process is done
  • Its possible applications
  • The metals worked
  • Our fleet of machines.
Those who rely on Minifaber for metal stamping find a complex, competent company that is always able to guarantee the highest degree of customization to the required finished or semi-finished products, which are studied with customers right from the design stages.

The cold stamping process

The cold metal forming process is a type of fabrication that takes place at room temperature, and is mainly used to produce complex metal parts with very high dimensional accuracy, while ensuring high productivity at low cost. The process is based on a series of steps from virtual die design, to production of the semi-finished or finished product. Specifically, the steps are:

Die design: The first step is the die design. This stage is carried out by Minifaber's in-house design team, which creates the custom-made die according to the customer's specific requirements.

Die making: our die making department makes the die according to the design prepared by the Engineering Department, exploiting state-of-the-art machines and the most innovative technologies.

Material selection: the fabrication material can come in the form of strips, wound in coils, sheets, discs and straps. Special care is taken to verify the mechanical, chemical and dimensional requirements of the material.

Cold metal forming: the metal is deformed to obtain the desired part using a die, a press with its parameters appropriately defined and set, and the most suitable lubricant in the right dose.

Finishing: if required, the semi-finished or finished product undergoes a stage of operations such as deburring, cleaning and washing, coating, galvanizing, and other surface and/or heat treatments after the stamping process.

Quality control: the production process is constantly monitored. Process parameters are kept under control, parts are constantly measured, and the data is recorded to ensure that they meet the specifications required by the customer.

Multiple metal stamping applications

Over time, we have become specialized in many cold metal stamping applications.

Today we make:

  • dies for deep drawing and shearing

  • progressive dies

  • and transfer molds.

We are now able to perform cold metal stamping for various production sectors, including:

  • the electromechanical sector

  • the medical sector

  • the vending sector

  • the household appliance sector

  • food processors using food-contact materials,

  • as well as the professional lighting sector

  • and gas distribution.

A very wide range of applications that has made us a leading player in terms of the variety of service offered, as well as the professionalism and quality that have always accompanied us.

Cold metal forming: what metals?

The materials we work are all the ones that can be plastically deformed: ferrous materials (including coated), stainless steel, aluminum and its alloys, and copper and its alloys, such as brass and cupronickel. Minifaber has excellent knowledge of metallurgy, and takes special care when selecting and controlling the purchase of these materials.

Stainless steel stamping

Stainless steel is among the most suitable metals for cold metal forming. Due to its resistance to corrosion and oxidation, it can be deformed without significantly changing its properties.

Stainless steel stamping can be applied to the fabrication of various components for the most sensitive sectors: from electromedical to food-contact materials.

Our fleet of state-of-the-art machines for metal stamping

Minifaber has a fleet of state-of-the-art machines for precision stamping of cold metal components. Our methodology is based on the use of custom dies, designed and drawn in-house by a team of specialized engineers and technicians.
We collaborate with customers to develop tailored solutions, for example, the new servo presses enable even higher-performance, accurate and efficient products.
Minifaber has also equipped itself with a hydroforming press for deforming and stamping sheet metal using a pressurized fluid.
Through this approach, we are able to ensure high quality standards while minimizing waste and production costs.

COMPLETED PROJECTS

Flame diffuser for boilers

In research and development, the client designed a new type of boiler inside which the burner is mounted. This part is the heart of the operation and performance of the entire system. The flame spread must meet certain requirements, otherwise the whole system may not function properly.

The main challenge was to molding the upper part with more than 5,000 holes of extremely small diameter.
